Eugene Huang, Esq.

Eugene Huang was born in Montclair, New Jersey. He is a
graduate of the Lawrenceville School; Boston College where he graduated
magna cum laude; and the New York University School of Law.
Eugene has been practicing with Wiley
Malehorn Sirota & Raynes since his admission to the Bar of the State of New
Jersey in 1995. He became a partner of the firm in 2001. Eugene was
admitted to the Bar of the State of New York in 1998.
Eugene’s practice includes business law, commercial transactional law,
estate planning and administration, environmental law, employment litigation, commercial litigation,
disability law, real estate, and land use. Eugene has given
seminars in the area of employment law.
Eugene has also written a number of articles in the area of employment
law, including: "Who is an employee? Let us count the ways" 12 N.J.L. 871

Eugene has been involved in a number of published
cases including: Vanderhoof v. Life Extension Institute, 988
F.Supp. 507 (D.N.J. 1997) (under the FMLA, hours worked with a
predecessor employer can be applied to a successor employer to determine
eligibility for leave); Petrusky v. Maxfli Dunlop Corp., 342 N.J.Super.
77, certif. denied, 170 N.J. 388 (2001) (age discrimination under the
NJLAD); and Cedeno v. Montclair State University, 319 N.J.Super. 148 (App. Div.
1999) affirmed, 163 N.J. 473 (2000) (the first application of the U.S.
Supreme Court’s McKennon "after acquired
evidence" doctrine in New Jersey.)
In 2007, Eugene was recognized by the New Jersey Law Journal's editorial
board as being one of New Jersey's "40 under 40", lawyers who in their
estimation are worthy of attention. Eugene received a 2007
Professional Lawyer of the Year award from the New Jersey Commission on
Professionalism in the Law.
Eugene is the immediate past president of the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association
of New Jersey. He was named in the New Jersey Law Journal's 2005
list of the top 50 leading minority and women attorneys in the State of
New Jersey. Eugene was named a Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2006
and 2007
by Law & Politics and New Jersey Monthly. He sits on the Judicial Eligibility Committee of
the Morris County Bar Association and is a member of the New Jersey
State Bar Association Professional Responsibility Committee.
